The quenching probably causes emission of unburned hydrocarbon and formation of deposit on the wall. In this study, a wall was inserted into a laminar diffusion flame of hydrocarbon fuel, and effects of the wall on the combustion characteristics of the flame were investigated as a fundamental study of the quenching. As a result, in the flame of diesel fuel, temperature in the flame deceased by the wall insertion. Moreover, it was found that the concentration of particulate matter increased in the flame. In the laminar diffusion flame of propane, effects of the wall insertion on the flame were similar to that in the flame of diesel fuel. In the propane flame experiment, moreover, the wall temperature was changed and effects of wall temperature were also investigated.   • Utilization of a biomass fuel derived from algae as jet fuel, FURUHATA Tomohiko; ARAI Masataka, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Gunma University, 2010, 2012, To obtain data about utilization of a biomass fuel derived from algae as jet fuel, a evaporation test using a hot surface and spray combustion experiment of test fuel were carried out. As the results of the evaporation test, it was clear that the evaporation rate of a jet fuel to which linoleic acid was added was decreased and the deposit mass formed from it was increased compared with pure jet fuel. Linoleic acid is the fatty acid which is contained most in the biomass fuel derived from algae. When a jet fuel to which linoleic acid methyl ester was added was tested, on the other hand, the deposit mass was greatly decreased. As the results of the spray combustion experiment, the composition of the exhaust gas from combustion of kerosene to which a vegetable oil was added was very close to that from pure kerosene combustion. However, the PM mass exhausted from combustion of vegetable oil added kerosene was decreased to 70% of that from pure kerosene combustion., 22560186
  • Reduction of secondary condensation particle formed in latent heat recovery process for small oil furnace and treatment of condensed water, FURUHATA Tomohiko; ARAI Masataka, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Gunma University, 2007, 2009, Spray combustions of kerosene or thiophene (C_4H_4S) added kerosene were carried out using a rectangular furnace with a spray burner, and behavior of secondary condensed particle in the stack was investigated. In addition, it was also investigated when a water-cooled heat exchanger was placed in the stack assuming that a latent heat recovery was introduced. As a result, it was found that the number of particles increased along the stack from the upstream to the downstream. This result showed that secondary condensation particles formed in the stack. pH of condensed water formed in the heat exchanger was measured. When pure kerosene used as fuel, the pH was about 4.0. However it was from 2.3 to 2.5 in the case of thiophene added kerosene combustion and it was clear that sulfur in fuel lowered the pH of condensed water., 19560190
