Thirty nursing students repeated Self-Chakra Connection, one of the Healing Touch techniques. The values of the sympathetic nervous system index(LF/HF) and the parasympathetic nervous system index (unHF) indicated that the application of touch technique provided a relaxation response comparable to that of respiration. In addition, touch technique was rated positively for its warmth, comfort and calmness. On the other hand, there was a large difference among individuals as to the degree how they could focus on touch. Therefore, how to deal with factors that interfere with concentration, such as drowsiness and thinking, is an issue when using touch technique for self-care., 15K11464

This content was presented at the 8th European Conference on Positive Psychology2016 in France. We talked about resilience and positive psychology for nurses, and made efforts to disseminate it. In 2017, we conducted an intervention study involving the concept of self-compassion as its outcome. It incorporated Loving-kindness Meditation into the content of the program. The result of this research was reported to the 9th European Conference on Positive Psychology 2018 at Budapest. The completed resilience program is applied to hospital nursing professionals, and its results will be reported at the 22nd Annual Conference of the Japan Academy of nursing Administration and Policies. in 2018. A questionnaire related to incidents and accidents of nursing professions was created using a previous study as reference, and a questionnaire survey was implemented on nursing professions. Scores in items for anxiety and tension, confusion, depression, obedience, lack of judgement, lack of cooperation, harsh working condition, and pressure of business were significantly higher in the group of nursing professions reporting incidents and accidents more than 3 times than in the other groups. As the results, correlations of the frequency of incidents and accidents reported by nursing professions with eight items were indicated. It was suggested that these items could be utilized for the screening sheet to determine medical accident risks of nursing professions., 26670912

The caregivers did the touch as a healing five times in three weeks in the laboratory. The physiological data showed that all the caregivers were relaxed when they were doing the touch. While repeating the touch as a healing, they were able to be relaxed and involved with people. However, the result suggested that the five time practices of touch were not enough experience to keep them relaxed in the clinical setting that has a feeling of tension., 23390489

Subjects were nursing students and healthy citizens. We measured the EEG, EMG, ECG, and other physiological data. We simultaneously measured the psychological data by the visual analog scale and other questionnaires. First, we investigated the psycho-physiological effects of jet stream by a water stimulation bed. The jet stream was very effective for muscle fatigue which caused by experimental instructions. The jet stream was also effective for causing "healing-like" comfort sensation after air arousal response of EEG Next, we studied about the quantitation of manual massage. The correlation between strength of acupuncture and comfort feeling or pain was investigated by the force strain gage. And, we challenged a trial manufacture for the quantitation of manual massage. This sensor can measure not only the vertical (z-axis) pressure, but also the horizontal (x-and y-axis) position. • Study on the effective deodorization of the odor in medical environment, KONDO Hiroko; MOMOSE Yumiko; YANAGIHASI Ryuya, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), Shinshu University, 1999, 2000, We investigated about deodorant effects of several familiar substances to some typical smells in the medical environment, through the following two experiments. First, we achieved a basic experiment about odor in order to constructing the methodology for physiological and psychological measurements, and we succeed to establishing the odor assessment system using by both the EEG and the semantic-differential technique, simultaneously. Using this system, we checked some physiological effects of several odor substances, such as the lavender oil, the scatol, and the iso-kisoic asid, and confirmed that the lavender oil had a little tendency of the sedative effect. Next, we achieved a further experiment about deodorant effects of several substances using by the ammonia. Ammonia causes one of the typical smells in medical environment. We had an experiment how the odor of ammonia is deodorized by some of familiar substances, such as coffee grounds, used tea leaves, peppermint oil, active carbon. Nine odorants were made, consist of ammonia, each of four familiar substances, and ammonia with each of four substances. The subjects were fourteen healthy women. They were given the seven odorants at random and evaluated their intensity, pleasantness-unpleasantness, and quality (Twenty-five rating scales used in semantic-differential (SD)). The results were as follows ; 1. The odor of ammonia with coffee grounds and the one with used tea leaves decreased most the intensity of subjective odor of ammonia. 2. The odor of ammonia with coffee grounds was slightly unpleasant, and the one with used tea leaves was neither pleasant nor unpleasant. These results suggested that the coffee grounds were most effective substance which deodorizes the odor of ammonia. And, the sensory qualities of the odor changed when the odor of ammonia deodorized., 11672324
